Important Dates
•1938 – Congress President and Indian National Army Supreme leader
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who had been persuaded (Induced) by
Meghnad Saha to set up a National Planning Committee.
•M. Visvesvaraya chosen as head of committee, but then Meghnad Shah approached
the great engineer and requested him to step down. He argued that planning needed
a reciprocity between science and politics. So, Sir M. Visvesvaraya agreed.
•Then, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was made head of the National planning committee.
•1944 - ‘British Raj’ so called established a planning board that functioning from 1944
to 1946.
