•Mid-1600s:agroupofFrenchfarmersnotedthatwheatrustwas

ofbarberryplantsfromthevicinityofgrainfields.

•ThefirstBritishlegislationagainstadiseaseinanimalsorplantswas
anActof1866grantingemergencypowersforthedestructionofall

•AnembargowaspassedinGermanytopreventimportationofplant
