Introduction to Plasma : Plasma, t h e 4 t h s t ate of matter. i s an Plasma c o n si s t of p o s it i ve ions io n ized gas and free electrons proportionately. A gas becomes a plasma with the addition of high heat and high pressure.
Abstract Plasma technology has touched almost every aspect of human activity due to its versatility. Plasma technology has been in use for the synthesis, processing, treatment, and deposition of polymers, nano-particle or nano-porous structures, textile surfaces, and etching, etc. Moreover, it is a clean and eco-friendly technique which minimizes waste, unlike wet-chemical processes. However, for mass-scale industrial production, both the feasibility of scale-up and economic aspects have to be given due consideration.
Materials used in plasma technology Plasma technology uses various materials depending on its applications. Common materials include: Gas: Plasma is often generated by ionizing gases such as hydrogen, helium, argon, or nitrogen. Electrodes: Conductive materials like metals are used as electrodes to create an electric field for plasma formation.3 Substrates: The material being treated or coated, like silicon wafers in semiconductor manufacturing or polymers in surface modification. Dielectric materials: These insulating materials can be used in applications like plasma etching and deposition processes. RF generators: Radio-frequency generators are used to provide the energy needed to sustain plasma. Magnetic coils: In some cases, magnetic fields are used to control and shape the plasma. 7. Vacuum chambers: Plasma is often generated in low-pressure environments to prevent gas collisions The choice of materials depends on the specific application and desired plasma characteristics.
Plasma Method for Textiles: Low-pressure plasma method Atmospheric Pressure Plasma method Continuous plasma processing. Semi-continuous plasma processing. Roll - to - Roll Plasma processing.
How does Plasma method works : Firstly, Gases are heated and charged to plasma state. Then fabric is placed between two electrode. After this, gases are directed on the sample piece in the form of high velocity stream.
Basic steps for plasma treatment Method : Basic steps for plasma treatment
Plasma Technology in Dyeing: Venue: NUB, Date : July 29, 2018 Dye ability or printability of textiles can be markedly improved by plasma treatments. This effect can be obtained on both synthetic and natural fibres. Capillarity improvement, enhancement of surface area, reduction of external crystallinity, creation of reactive sites on the fibres and many other actions can contribute to the final effect depending on the operative conditions.

Plasma Technology in Dyeing: The graph shows that plasma treated wool can achieve 90% exhaustion in 30 minutes as compared to 60 minutes for untreated samples. When wool is dyed with reactive dyes maximum exhaustion is achieved A possible explanation to this behavior of reactive dyes is due to the increase in sulphonate groups on the fiber surfaces. RESULT : "Plasma technology encompasses a wide range of applications, relying on materials such as gases for ionization, conductive electrodes for electric field generation, various substrates, dielectric materials, RF generators, magnetic coils, and vacuum chambers. These materials play vital roles in creating and controlling plasma in diverse fields, from semiconductor manufacturing to surface modification and beyond."
