2. Introduction Mr. Porinju Veliyath is a well-known Indian investor and fund manager. He manages his own portfolio as a partner in his portfolio management firm Equity Intelligence India Ltd. He has been called a small-cap czar by The Economic Times.

3. Early Life Mr. Porinju Veliyath was born in Indian state Kerala on 6 June 1962. He was born in lower middle class family. His family suffered from serious financial troubles when he was just 16. The home in which they were staying had to be sold off to repay the debts. His teenage days were full of struggles.

4. Early Life He started working from the age of 17, so as to support his family. Started his first job in a private company with the salary of Rs.1000/month. In search of better job, Porinju Veliyath relocated to Ernakulum. He worked as Telephone operator in Ernakulum telephone exchange. Meanwhile he successfully completed his LLB from Ernakulum Law College.

5. Entry into Stock Market. While working in Ernakulum Telephone E xchange , Porinju developed his interest in stock market. He moved to Mumbai in 1990 and started working with Kotak Securities as a floor trader. He became expert stock trader and gain ample of knowledge of stock market while working as stock trader.

6. Entry into Stock Market. In 1994, He left Kotak and joined Parag Parikh Securities as a research analyst and fund manager. He started investing in stock market and learnt how securities market functions. He worked as fund manager in Parag Parikh Securities till 1999.

7. Moved back to Kochi Veliyath learnt many things and gained enough experience from his 9 years stay in Mumbai. In 1999 he left Mumbai and moved back to Kochi and started working with Geojit Financial Services. He made his first major investment by taking up 8% stake in Geojit securities which was valued at Rs.2.5 crore at that time.

8. Equity Intelligence Pvt. Ltd After working for almost 12 years in different companies, In 2002 Mr. Porinju Veliyath started his own firm named Equity Intelligence P vt . Ltd. Today it manages the fund of more than Rs.1200 crore.

9. Multibagger's stocks Shreyas Shipping and Logistics ltd turned to be a multibagger stock for Mr. Porinju Veliyath. He picked the stock in 2012 when it was trading on Rs.30, and in Aug 7 2015, the stock price touched a high of Rs.765. He picked the shares of Force Motors at price Rs.420 and after 1.5 years Share price of Force motors touched Rs.3000. Mr. Veliyath has also earned multibagger returns from stock of Balaji Amines, Orient paper, Biocoin, TCI etc.

10. Investment Strategy Mr. Porinju Veliyath is a value investor and defines value investing as “Buying rupee worth of assets by paying few paisa”. He buys the shares of company which he thinks has strong fundamentals and then holds it for long duration.
