About This Presentation

LHB power car

Slide Content

LHB POWER CAR

500 KVA alternator rotates on rated speed and
maintain 750V phase to phase voltage
These three phase supply is connected to 800
A ACB(air circuit breaker).
Before ACB 100 VA,750v/415v voltage
transformer is used for control and mesuring.
Neutral from alternator is connected through
BCNA(bus coupler neutral)
contactor),FNA(Feeder neutral contactor)
Feeder contactor k-01 and k-02 are connected to
incoming cable from ACB.

Contactor k-01 and k-02 are interlocked to each
other for safety purpose
One Bus coupler contactor k-03 is used between
both feeder
One safety loop wire size 2.5 sq mm is used for
entire coaches to both power car via limit
switch . Without safety loop ok feeder contactor
can’t be operated.
IF safety loop is ok then feeder contactor(k-01,k-
02) and power car working contactor (k-04 ,06)
can be operate and feeder can be charged.

•2x500 kVA Alternator sets
•Diesel Engine rating -490 BHP @1500 Rpm
•Brushless Alternator rating –500 kVA, 750
Volts, 3 phase
•Battery -70 Ah VRLA for Coach loads
•Starter Battery –24 V, 290 Ah
•Battery Charger -230V/ 24 V DC

Regulated Battery Charger 415 V/ 110 V DC
constant current constant voltage
Emergency Battery Charger 230 V/ 110 V DC
LHB RMPU 7 ton capacity
60 kVA transformer 750/415 V –3 nos
2 nos 60KVA transformer for power car radiator
and one 60 KVA transformer for power car
coach load.
Two transformer under frame and one transformer
inside power car coach(for coach load).

•Switch Board Cabinet consists Power
distribution and Ac control panel
•DG set control panel
•Air Circuit Breaker 800 A for alternator output
•Diesel Engines are monitored and control
through ECBG (Electronic Control & Governor
Control)

•OUT PUT VOLTAGE : 750 V
•ALTERNATOR CAPACITY: 500KVA
•POWER FACTOR :0.8
•FREQUENCY :50 Hz +/-3%
•IT IS SELF EXCITED ,SELF REGULATED,SELF
VENTILATED
•IT SHOULD BE CAPABLE OF CATERING 30 % OF
UNBALANCED LOAD
•STATOR INSULATION CLASS -F
•ROTOR INSULATION CLASS -H
ALTERNATOR SPECIFICATION

•Class H insulation consists of materials such as
silicone elastomeric and combinations of materials
such as mica, glass fiber, asbestos etc., with suitable
bonding, impregnating or coating substances such as
appropriate silicon resins.(temp-180 degree
centigrade)
•Class-F insulation consists of materials or
combinations of materials such as mica, glass fibre,
asbestos etc. materials possessing a degree of
thermal stability allowing them to be operated at
temperature 25 centigrade degree higher than class-
B materials.(155 Degree centigrade)
CLASS-H INSULATION AND CLASS -F INSULATION

•The alternator use self ventilated brushless designed
with voltage regulation of dual type i.e both electrical
and electronic
•electrical control through compound transformer or
magnetic amplifier and
•Electronic regulation through solid state automatic
voltage control and sensing from all the three phases.
•The combined regulation is 2.5% approximately.
DIESEL ALTERNATOR SPECIFICATION

Water temperature gauge with cutout
Lub oil pressure gauge with cutout
Over Speed governor

Alternator Earth leakage relay
Under Voltage Relay
Over load relay

Feeder Earth Fault relay
Feeder Over load relay

AVR

HOG compliant
On the non-vestibule end of power car, 2 nos of
500 Amps Z-S couplers are provided fro
extending hotel supply from Locomotive
One 13 pin UIC (Universal Inter vehicle
coupler) is provided for controlling Hotel load
converter in the Locomotive
2 nos 290 Ah starter battery sets are provided.
Charging of these batteries thro’ the Battery
charger 230 V /24 V with a change over switch.

Fuel flow meter has been provided for
measuring fuel consumption
2 nos of 630 A main contactors introduced for
isolating Hotel load supply from Locomotives

Pollution free and cheaper power from OHE as compared
to EOG system
Higher reliability as compared to SG/EOG system due to
reduced number of generating equipments
No additional irritating noise or smoke as power is taken
from Electric/Diesel locomotive
Low maintenance requirement
Requirement of operator for stand by DA set only
Reduced dead weight as compared to SG & EOG system
HOG type AC coaches can be used in EOG type trains
Suitable for diesel as well as electric traction
Best suited for LHB type coaches with higher speed
potential
