Significant development change in the
brain makes adolescents tired, moody,
and difficult to deal with. This is the
stage when they feel that they are
neither children nor adults. They do not
like to be treated like children, but they
also dislike responsibilities.

Anxiety, mood disorders, and
depression are known to be
common among youth nowadays.
Some of the causes are low self-
esteem due to poor body image.
Poor academic performance and
poor social skills also contribute
to these anxiety - related
problems.

SOCiAL prObLEmS (DAtiNg AmD rELAtiONShipS)
It is during adolescence that
attraction to the opposite sex begins.
This results in self-consciousness and
awkwardness. Through their social
circle expands because of social
media, the pressure to confront and
compete triggers feelings of social
anxiety.

It is during the adolescence
stage when the development
of secondary sexual
characteristics also develops.
They experience new feelings
that sometimes lead them to
take risks and experiment
with their bodies.

When teenagers become sexually active even before
their bodies are ready, this could result in unplanned
and unwanted pregnancies. This could also lead to
sexually transmitted diseases like human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
