3. SIMPLE PAST The simple past tense is a tense to show an action that happened in the past and was completed at a certain time in the past. Function: states or situations that occurred clearly in the past

5. SIMPLE FUTURE Simple future tense is a tense to explain an event that has not yet started and will occur in the future.  Sentences in the simple future tense can be marked by the use of the words will, shall, and going to.  The simple future tense is also used to express a prediction or wish.
