Introduction to Institutions Institutions are structures and mechanisms of social order. They govern the behavior of individuals within a community. Institutions can be state or non-state.

Types of Institutions Communist-They are govern by their government alone.People have no opportunity to choose. Democracy- people has the opportunity to choose.

State Institutions State institutions are established by the government. They include branches like the executive, legislative, and judiciary. Their primary function is to govern and implement laws.

Executive Branch The executive branch enforces laws. It is headed by the President or Prime Minister. Includes various departments and agencies.

Legislative Branch The legislative branch creates laws. It consists of elected representatives. Examples include Parliament and Congress.

Judicial Branch The judicial branch interprets laws. It includes courts and judges. Ensures laws are applied fairly.

Functions of State Institutions Maintain law and order. Provide public services. Protect citizens' rights. Manage economic policies.

Non-State Institutions Non-state institutions operate independently . They include NGOs, community groups, and private sector organizations. They often address social, economic, and environmental issues.

TRADE UNIONS THEY LOOK AFTER THE WELL BEING OF WORKERS THEY ARE AFTER COMPANIES WHO ONLY WANTS PROFIT - LOW SALARY -INHUMANE ENVIRONMENT

TRANSNATIONAL ADVOCACY GROUP Influence government to take actions on matter commonly neglected. A group maybe a national or an international that promotes or advocates progress.  greenpeace Red Cross human rights watch

Functions of Non-State Institutions Provide specialized services and support. Advocate for social change. Fill gaps left by the government. Promote community engagement .

Comparing State and Non-State Institutions State institutions have legal authority and power. Non-state institutions rely on voluntary participation. Both play crucial roles in society.
