INSTRUCTION On occupational safety for students of the educational institution "Belarusian State Medical University" practicing in healthcare institutions

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS ON OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY Students who have undergone a medical examination in accordance with the established procedure, have been trained in safe methods and techniques for performing work, and have been instructed on occupational safety and health are allowed to undergo internship. The student has the right to: the provision of necessary means of collective and individual protection, sanitary facilities and devices; refuse to perform the assigned work in case of an immediate danger to the life and health of him and those around him until this danger is eliminated.

The student must : follow the requirements for occupational health and safety, as well as the rules of internal regulations on the territory of the healthcare organization; use and correctly apply personal protective equipment and collective protective equipment; undergo medical examinations, training, instruction and verification of knowledge on occupational safety issues in accordance with the procedure established by the law; immediately inform the employer about any situation that threatens the life or health of workers and others, about an accident that occurred at work, assist the employer in helping the victims and deliver them to a healthcare organization.

The student should know: this instruction ; instructions for first aid; the rules of technical operation of the equipment used.

Fire safety requirements for students: It is not allowed to: smoke in the premises of healthcare organizations and on its territory; use faulty electrical appliances (devices); turn on electric heaters in the premises of healthcare organizations without special permission; leave unattended electrical devices connected to the network; store flammable substances; make an open fire in the building of the center and on its territory;

Fire safety requirements for students: The student must know the warning signals, the order of actions in case of fire, the location of fire extinguishing equipment, be able to use fire extinguishing equipment. In case of detection of malfunctions of equipment, devices, protective equipment, violations of the technological process, the student is obliged to notify about this the head of the structural unit, and in his absence, the chief physician or the person replacing him/her.

When performing work, the student must observe the rules of personal hygiene: work only in special medical clothing; wash hands with warm water and soap after visiting each patient and after performing each type of work; eat only in special places for having meal; drink water from clean dishes, chemical dishes are not allowed to use.

Students' failure to comply with the requirements of this instruction is considered to be a violation of work discipline. Students guilty of violating the requirements of the occupational safety instruction are liable ( answer) in accordance with the legislation.

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS BEFORE STARTING WORK It is necessary to tidy up and put on medical clothes and shoes, which must be clean and not restrict movement, remove hair under a headdress. It is not allowed to stab overalls with needles, to store pins, glass and sharp objects in pockets. Inspect and tidy up the workplace. Remove unnecessary items that may interfere with the performance of work or create additional danger.

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS WHEN PERFORMING WORK During operation, avoid side-conversations and annoying noises. Regular breaks should be observed during the working day for general gymnastics, finger and hand massage, and eye exercises. After each manipulation with patients, contact with their secretions, contaminated linen or dishes, wash your hands with warm water and soap, and, if necessary, treat them with a disinfectant solution. Wear rubber gloves: - if there are cuts, abrasions and other skin lesions on the hands; - when working with the possibility of contamination of the hands with sputum or other secretions of the patient. After work, the gloves must be disinfected. The student is forbidden to sit on the patient's bed.

REQUIREMENTS FOR OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS If dangerous working conditions occur, immediately stop working, turn off the equipment, report the incident to the direct supervisor or higher management, if necessary, call the emergency and/or technical services. In case of fire: stop working; call the fire brigade and inform the direct supervisor or higher manager (phon. 101,112); electrical networks and electrical equipment must be de-energized; In case of an accident (injury), provide first aid. If necessary, call an ambulance. Report the accident (injury) to the direct supervisor or higher manager.
