Monthly Text: John 13:17 If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. Monthly Theme: “ Practice What You Learned as Christian Believers” Month of September

TITLE: “Attitude Is Everything " THEME : Practicing Biblical Christianity in our Attitude Text: Joshua 1:8

Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

INTRODUCTION: Write the name of a person you greatly admire. Then write down what it is that causes you to admire that person ?

INTRODUCTION: Now, consider the qualities you wrote down. Do they have more to do with attitude, aptitude/skill, or appearance? (circle one) Can you see how important attitude is?

My attitude as I begin a task will affect its outcome more than anything else. (Proverbs 23:7) Biblical Principles About Attitudes

Joshua and Caleb Saw the fruit in the land Saw themselves in God’s hands Were optimistic/positive about the future Encouraged stepping out in faith The other Ten Spies Saw the problems in the land Saw themselves as small and weak Were pessimistic / negative about the future Prevented the people from progress

Attitude Checklist: What is my usual attitude at the beginning of a new experience? Are there certain new experiences that cause me to feel negative? Do these areas help determine my success with God, family, or ministry ?

My attitude towards others determines their attitude towards me. Matthew 7:12 Biblical Principles About Attitudes

My attitude is the major difference between success and failure. (Proverbs 4:23) Biblical Principles About Attitudes

My attitude can turn my problems into blessing. (Philippians 2:5-9) Biblical Principles About Attitudes

Three Phases of a problem: Awareness: We have a problem. Evaluation: What went wrong? Choice: This is where attitude steps in!

My attitude can give me an uncommon/unusual perspective on life. Biblical Principles About Attitudes

My attitude is my best friend or my worst enemy . My attitude, not my achievements, will give me happiness. Biblical Principles About Attitudes

Note the importance of attitude in both leaders and team members. Practicing psychologists list five rules for evaluating people considered for job promotion: (1) Ambition , ( 2) Attitudes toward policy, ( 3) Attitude toward colleagues, ( 4) Leadership skills, ( 5) Attitudes to pressure on the job.

8. My attitude will change when I choose to change it. Stop blaming something or someone else for your attitude. Evaluate your present attitudes. Recognize that faith is stronger than fear. Request God to fill you with His Holy Spirit. Uncover and write out a statement of purpose. Enlist the help of an accountability partner. Spend time with the right people. Select a model to follow. Consume the truth. Soak yourself in the scriptures!

9. My attitude needs continual adjustment. Indicators for attitude adjustments…. I have not had enough time with God or myself. My family notices and tells me about my attitude. My relationship with co-workers becomes strained/stressed. My perspective on life becomes negative.

10. My attitude is infectious .

Develop a strategy for changing these attitudes : Model the right attitude for the people . Identify and connect them with leaders. Disciple leaders in this subject of attitude. Preach these truths. Hold the people accountable for their attitudes. Application:

Romans 14:12  (ERV) So each of us will have to explain to God about the things we do. Conclusion:
