SIX PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN ON 2 MEAL PLAN Dr DIXIT’s DIET

Six Precautions Rise in pp sugars, followed by symptoms of hypoglycemia in diabetics on insulin or strong medicines In our residential program setting with 2 meal plan- 25% had PP sugar > 180 45% had symptoms of hypoglycemia

Six Precautions TIP 1 Since the 2 meal plan can be difficult for most diabetics on insulin or strong medicines, it's better to eat thrice and have smoothie twice with nuts and seeds, till medications are drastically reduced.

Six Precautions Tendency to overeat which increases the sugar ( glycemic ) load

Scientific Note On Insulin Secretion Insulin is secreted in proportion to the amount of glucose in blood According to WILLIAMS TEXTBOOK ON ENDOCRINOLOGY , approx 1.4 units of insulin is secreted for every 12 grams of oral glucose 12 grams roughly equates to 1 phulka . So, if you eat two phulkas , approximately 2.8 units of insulin is secreted. For 3 phulkas , 4.2 units and so on. (This is not linear but sigmoidal in nature)

Six Precautions TIP 2 Continue to follow the 25% rule even if you on twice a day meal plan i.e. For every phulka of 6-7 inches diameter have 1 katori daal , 1 katori subji and 1 katori salad. When taking second phulka repeat all the 3 katoris

Six Precautions Missing chlorophyll, micro nutrients and enzymes – When food is cooked, enzymes/ chlorophyll get destroyed completely, vitamins and minerals reduce by 70-80%, protein gets 50%+ coagulated

Six Precautions TIP 3 Those following the 2 meal plan, can still take smoothie twice a day outside of the 55 minute timings. Benefit in terms of weight loss and diabetes reversal can increase because, smoothie , salads, soaked nuts, sprouts and fruits will help in many ways by reducing the inflammation in one's body. When inflammation reduces, insulin resistance reduces and this helps to reduce insulin levels significantly.

Falling into the temptation of dairy products The medical side of dairy involves I nsulin like Growth Factor (IGF) a nd Advanced Glycated End Products (AGEs) which significantly increase insulin resistance Giving up milk in all forms leads to a significant drop in sugar levels within days, many a times to a level which has never been experienced before in years

Insulin Resistance at Cellula r Level IGF from dairy can interfere with insulin action Acid and inflammation creates a swelling around cells. This interferes with insulin action

Six Precautions TIP 4 Stay away from milk and all milk products for as long as possible

Six Precautions 5. Rise in acidity For those who can’t keep to the strict timings or pitta prakruti or fast oxidisers TIP: If you are experiencing a rise in acidity, headaches , migraine it's better to have 3-4 meals with smoothie and/or fruits in between

Six Precautions 6. Underweight people losing lean body mass TIP: Clearly establish your weight, fat and muscle percentage goals. More number of times you eat, more insulin will be secreted and through it's anabolic (growth) effects it will help you grow muscle and lean body mass

A NOTE ON EXERCISE: Focus on STRENGTH BUILDING EXERCISES Since walking is the most popularized form of exercise, most miss out on strengthening the muscles through anti gravity exercises like Stair Climbing, Dr Mercola Nitric Oxide Dump, Resistance Band and Weight training .
