5. Slova k popular music began to develop in the thirties of the twentieth century.  Its development was conditional:   a) the development of popular music in Western countries b) political arrangement in the world c) seventy years of shared history with the Czech Republic

Television companies and print media also have a strong influence on the development of popular music, and the influence of the public access to another information medium: the Internet, is gradually becoming stronger.   Slovak pop ular music has its so-called  constants in the form of composers, lyricists, musicians and singers from previous decades such as IMT Smile, Gladiator, Le Payaco, No Name, Horkýže Slíže, Desmod , Komajota, Peha, singers such as Robo Opatovský, Jana Kirschnerová, Katka Knechtová got into the media repertoire...    There is a boom in electronica (Foolk, Pjoni&Ink Midget), hip-hop (with significant spillover into mainstream culture – Kontrafakt, Rytmus, H16 , A.M.O, Moja reč, Zverina, Vec and many others

8. Music al festivals are very popular in millenium : Pohoda, Top Fest , Love Stream, Grape Festival

9. Since the mid-nineties, many stars of the world music scene have come to give concerts in Slovakia.  

10. Desmod is a Slovak rock band originally from Nitra, which has been active on the Slovak music scene since 1996.

Elán is a rock band founded in Bratislava in 1968 by elementary school classmates singer Jožo Ráž, keyboard player Vašo Patejdl, guitarist Juraj Farkaš and drummer Zdeno Baláž.  In 2018, the Elán group announced the end of their concert activities and played their last concert tour on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their founding. The duo Ráž and Baláž are preparing a pair of concerts in Prague and Bratislava, which will be a celebration of Jož Ráž's seventies. On August 19, 2023, Vašo Patejdl died.

12. Horkýže Slíže is a Slovak punk rock band that was formed on November 4, 1992 in Nitra.  At the beginning of their career, they mainly played hard rock, later comedy rock, which is also referred to as naive punk.  Today, the group is focused exclusively on punk rock.  He belongs to the legends of the Czechoslovak scene, not only of the rock scene, but also of the general scene.

13. Para is a Slovak pop rock band from Bratislava.  He has been active on the scene for almost 30 years and has 6 albums, 2 DVDs and hits such as Abstinent and Otec to his credit .

14. Polemic is a Slovak ska/reggae band that was formed in 1988.

15. No Name is a Slovak rock group, founded on August 26, 1996 in Košice.  The founding members were Viliam Gutray and three Timkovci brothers – Igor, Roman and Ivan.  Currently, the group has six members.

16. Heľenine oči is a Slovak band that was formed in 1999 in Prešov.  It uses a combination of elements of metal, ska, reggae, folk and rock.

17. AYA is a Slovak rock band from Žilina.  She released 1 promotional single, six series albums, one selection CD for the 20th anniversary.  Among their most famous songs are the Little Prince, Baby Cocoa, World of Beautiful Women.

18. Arzén - rock group from Terchová near Žilina.  The genre is a combination of rock and folklore.  The group also has a different musical face.  He presents his own rock compositions with original texts, but also texts by other authors.  The band also sets poems by Slovak writers to music.

19. Team is a Slovak rock band.  It was established in the early 80s of the 20th century in Martin.  Singer Pavol Habera is a strict judge of the SuperStar competition.  The group had its last concert so far in 2012.

20. Hex is a Slovak pop rock band that was formed in 1989 in Bratislava.  Hex is short for "humanoid experiment".  It is an experiment to see if people will be able to listen to the music that the band plays.

21. IMT Smile is a Slovak pop-rock band from Prešov, founded in 1992 by brothers Ivan Tásler and Miroslav Tásler.  Many musicians who are now active in other groups have passed through it.

22. Peter Bič Project is a musical group from Košice. It was founded by guitarist Peter Bič in 2010 after leaving the band IMT Smile.

23. Tublatanka is a Slovak rock band founded in 1982 by Martin Ďurinda (guitar) and Juraj Černý (drums).  It is oriented towards hard rock

25. Vidiek is a Slovak pop rock band founded in Rovinka in 1986 by Ján Kuric and Ondrej Tomčala, members of the disbanded group Ventil RG, who originally formed a duo.

Fragile is a Slovak vocal music group composed of popular personalities, known from various TV series, theater, musical productions and TV shows.  It was established in 2004 in Bratislava.  Without the use of musical instruments, i.e. a cappella, she interprets well-known rock, pop, jazz hits by world artists such as Sting, Justin Timberlake, Norah Jones, Bruno Mars, and Tina Turner.

27. Kontrafakt is a Slovak hip-hop trio from Piešťany, founded in 2001 by Rytmus, Ego and Anys.

28. Hrdza is a Slovak music group from Prešov, which plays songs inspired by Slovak folklore with elements of folk, rock, and world music influences.

29. Gladiator is a Slovakian rock band that leaned towards metal in terms of genre, Metallica and Sepultura were among their biggest musical examples

30. Korben Dallas is a Slovak rock band from Bratislava.  He has been active on the scene since 2010. He has 6 albums to his credit.  With their work, they cross the boundaries of the independent scene.  They became known with the hit Otec in 2013.

31. Kandračovci , originally called Ondrej Kandrač's Folk Music, is a musical group founded in 2004 by Primate Ondrej Kandrač.  They focus on folklore, but also play various cover versions of songs by pop artists.

32. Moja reč is a Slovak hip-hop trio consisting of rappers Delik and Supa and producer Jozef Engerer originally from Handlova .

33. Foolk , real name Dušan Vančo, is a Slovak musician and DJ.  Genre-wise, it moves between acid jazz and IDM.

Richard Müller - singer, musician, composer.  His work was influenced by several musical genres.  In the beginning, still with the group Banket, he recorded several compositions that can be classified in the synthpop music genre or in the new wave, but he also strongly inclined to chanson, to styles in the original Slovak popular music, or to various rock music genres.

35. Zuzana Smatanová - Slovak singer-songwriter.  He sings in Slovak and English.  She composes her own songs.

36. Jana Kirschnerová, stage name Jana Kirschner - Slovak singer, composer and multiple winner of music awards in the field of several musical genres.  He lives in London.  She is the partner of British music producer Eddie Stevens.

37. Miroslav " Miro" Žbirka , also known as Meky Žbirka - was a Slovak singer and songwriter, co-founder and former member of the band Modus.  He is also a former member of the group Limit, with whom he later went on a solo career.  His musical style is close to his musical role model, The Beatles.  He died in 2021.

38. Patrik Vrbovský - known mainly under the stage name Rytmus (but initially he used the name Pa3k Metamorfolord) is a Slovak rapper who has been active on the hip-hop scene since 1992.

39. Koloman Magyary, known under the stage name Kali , is a Slovak rapper who has been active on the hip-hop scene since 2008.

40. Adam Ďurica is a Slovak singer, composer, lyricist, musician and music producer.  It is based on pop.
