2. What is prehistory? The history of mankind, before written or recorded history, is called PREHISTORY. In dividing human history of this period, historians use the three-age system page on their respective predominant toolmaking technologies Viz: - stone age Bronze age Iron age

Animals: organisms able to move on their own Chordates: Animals with back bones Mammals: Chordates with hair, fur and milk glands Primates: Mammals with grasping fingers and collar bones Hominids: Primates with three-dimensional vision relatively flat face Homo: Hominids with large brains and upright posture Homo sapiens: Members of genus Homo with thin skull bones and high forehead

5. The Journey Begins About 12 million years ago the primates divided into two branches, one which included the species that would evolve into modern humans. This branch had several different species Evolution of the hominid branch began with this group beginning to live on land. Then they began standing upright,  that is when they evolved from quadrupeds to bipeds. This was supported with a larger brain.
