FISH EXTRACT

MATERIALS REQUIRED 5kg fish waste, 5kg jaggery , A plastic drum PREPARATION Remove the fish intestines and chop into fine pieces. Powder the jaggery . Mix 5kg of fish waste and 5 kg of jaggery and add to a plastic drum and close the lid for 30days to ferment. Filter it using nylon mesh to get 300-500 ml solution . BENEFITS Root length and plant height is increased. Foliar application or drenching may increase uptake and reduce runoff or leaching providing plant with N for chlorophyll output to maintain plant height. Yield – 18.4% higher.

INGREDIENTS : 80 L capacity Broad mouthed drum (with lid) -1 no ,60 nos eggs, 100 nos lemon , 5 kg local jaggery PREPARATION : lay the eggs in the jar & pour the lemon juice. keep it for 10 days and then stir well. Most commonly used organic liquid formulation. Prepared with five components derived from cow – individually called “ Gavya ”. PANCHAGAVYA

PROCEDURE Ingredients: 15 kg dung 3 litres cow’s urine 2 litres curd 2 litres milk 500 ml ghee 1 kg jaggery 1 kg arasu fruit (or other fruit) 3 litres tender coconut 10-12 poovan or other banana 3-5 litres water

Preparation procedure:

Benefits : Growth promoter. Insecticidal and larvicidal properties. Against defoliators and skeletonizers . Fungicidal activities against wilt pathogens. Loaded with beneficial microbes. Contains growth hormones for good yield, immunity boosters. Seed treatment - healthy seedlings with profuse rooting systems.   Increases the soil structure and the population of favourable rhizosphere microorganisms.

Five Leaf Extracts for pest control Leaf extracts of some plants and trees are very effective as pest repellents. They can be broadly grouped as below: a) Leaves that are not eaten by sheep and cattle. (Ex) Adathoda and Notchi . b) Leaves yielding a milky sap when crushed. (Ex) Erukkai , and Umaththai . c) Leaves with bitter taste (Ex) Neem and Aloevera . d) Leaves with disgusting taste (ex) Jatropha . e) Blend of bitter and disgusting taste (Ex) Seeds of neem or custard apple or ettikai .

Fermentation method Grind the seeds and leaves at least one kg from each group listed above and soak them in about 12 litres of cow urine and 3 litres dung or gobar gas slurry for 10-15 days. The leaves and seeds must be totally immersed in the liquid. This ensures effective fermentation of the leaves. Usage : You could filter this, mix one litre of the solution in 10 litres of water and spray on plants to control insects and worms at frequent intervals as a prophylactic measure.

Boiling Method Chop the leaves or grind the seeds of at least one kg from each group listed above. Soak it in 25 litres of water and boil the contents under constant heat. Filter the decoction and set apart in a container. Repeat the process of adding water, heating and filtering decoction one more time. Now, add 100 to 200 grams of turmeric powder to the cooled decoction allow to ferment for 12 hours. Usage : Add sufficient water to make it to 100 litres and used as foliar spray.
