Stative verbs are not used in progressive tenses because they don’t refer to actions . ○ Verbs of the senses : see, feel, hear, smell, taste, notice, seem, appear, look (= seem), etc. ○ Verbs of emotions and preferences : like, love, hate, dislike, want, need, prefer, mind, etc. ○ Verbs of perception, belief, knowledge and opinion : know, agree, find, think (= believe), believe, understand, remember, forget, hope, mean, imagine, etc. ○ Verbs of ownership : have (= possess), own, belong, etc. ○ Other verbs which describe permanent states : be, cost, etc.
