WISH + past continuous I-he- she - it was / were-you - they - we 1. We use wish + past continuous to express that we want to be doing a different action in the present to be diferent . I wish i was lying on a beach now (I am in Ensglish class right now ) I wish it was not raining . ( It is raining .) I wish you were not leaving tomorrow . ( you are leaving tomorrow )
WISH + would 1. We use wish + would+infinitive to express that impatience or dissatisfaction with a present action I wish you would stop smoking ( you are smoking at the moment and i do not like it ) I wish my neighborswould move . ( they play loud music on weekends ) I wish my brother’s baby would be quiet . ( I am angry because the baby is crying the whole day )
