Introduction These are also known as filament lamp These lamps work on the principle of incandescence, hence known as incandescent lamp It is a first filament lamp invented by thomas elva edison in 1760 century According to principle of incandescence when current is passed through the wire but heat and light are produced In other words ,The lamp working due to glowing of the filament caused by electric current through it, is called incandescent lamp

3. Construction These are following part of incadescent lamp . Filament Filament is very thin wire ,which emitts light ray when current passed it Th material used for filament is carbon ,osmium,tantalum and tungesten Tungesten wire is most commonly used metal filament,because its melting point is very high Filament wire is coil form 2 contact wire It is also a metal wire which carrying the electric current to the filament Inert gas The glass bulb is fitted with inert gas as nitrogen or argon to reduced the rise of evaporation inert gas avoid the oxidation of filament

Working principles When an object is made hot ,the atoms inside the Object becomes thermally excited The outer orbit electrons of the atoms jump to higher energy level due to supplied energy The electrons on these hjgher energy levels are not stable ,they again fall back to lower energy level While falling fro higher to lower energy level ,the electrons release their extra energy in a form of photon These Photon are then emitted form the surface of the object in the form of electromagnetic radiation The range of electromagnetic radiation is visible range of light energy

6. Advantages Less cost Can be operated ar normal voltage (1.5-300v) Good radiation characterstics Available in various shape Its starts intenantansoly

7. Disadvantage Power consuption is more Life is less compare to other lamp(1000hr) Efficincy is very low(3-18lumen/watt) More heat generate

8. Applications It is use of potable lightning such as table lamp It is use vehicle light and car light It is use commercial and house lightning It is use decoration lightning

Type Of incansedent lamp There are different type of incasedent lamp according to filament materials Tungesten filament lamp(3400’c and 18 lumen /watt) Osmium filament lamp(2600’c and 5 lumen/watt) Tantelum filament lamp(3017’c and 2 lumen/watt) Carbon filament lamp(3550’c and 4.5 lumen /watt) Working principle is same as given incansedent lamp
