PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE
MANAGEMENT
(PLM)

WHAT IS PLM?
Product   lifecycle management
(PLM) is the strategic process of
managing the complete journey of
a product from initial ideation,
development, service, and
disposal. Put another way, PLM
means managing everything
involved with a product from
cradle to grave.

BENEFITS OF PLM
There are many benefits of PLM,
including improved collaboration,
reduced costs, increased
efficiency, and better decision-
making. PLM helps companies
streamline their product
development process, reduce
errors, and improve product
quality. It also helps companies
manage regulatory compliance
and reduce risk.

Product lifecycle refers to each
stage a product goes through from
initial concept to retirement. This
includes ideation, design,
prototyping, manufacturing,
service, and end-of-life
management. The 4 stages of the
product life cycle are introduction,
growth, maturity, and decline.
Learn how to leverage this into
your business strategy.
PLM PROCESS AND PHASES

PLM LIFE CYCLE
There are many different ways to describe
the phases of product development and no
one industry standard. The 5 phases of
PLM life cycle was
1.Concept and Design
2.Development
3.Production and Launch
4. Service and Support
5.Retirement

PDM

DEFINITION OF PDM
Product data management (PDM) is a
system for managing design data and
engineering processes in one central location.
Engineering teams use PDM software to
organise product-related information, track
revisions, collaborate, manage change
orders, generate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
and more. With a single source for project
data, engineers save time and avoid
mistakes.

BENEFITS OF PDM
1..Find the correct data quickly
2.Improve productivity and reduce cycle
times
3.Reduce development errors and costs
4. Improve value chain orchestration
5. Meet business and regulatory
requirements
6.Optimize operational resource

IMPORTANCE OF PDM
Effective product data management reduces
product development costs, wastage, errors,
and unhappy customers. With PDM, your
company can improve the product
development process with the resources it
already has at its disposal.

DATABASE
A database is an organized collection of
structured information, or data, typically
stored electronically in a computer system. A
database is usually controlled by a database
management system (DBMS). Together, the
data and the DBMS, along with the
applications that are associated with them,
are referred to as a database system, often
shortened to just database.

TYPES OF DATABASE
1.Relational databases
2.Object-oriented databases
3.Distributed databases
4.Data warehouses
5.NoSQL databases
6.Graph databases

RELATIONAL DATABASE
A relational database (RDB) is a way of
structuring information in tables, rows, and
columns. An RDB has the ability to establish
links—or relationships–between information
by joining tables, which makes it easy to
understand and gain insights about the
relationship between various data points.

NOSQL DATABASE
NoSQL databases store data in documents
rather than relational tables. Accordingly, we
classify them as "not only SQL" and
subdivide them by a variety of flexible data
models. Types of NoSQL databases include
pure document databases, key-value stores,
wide-column databases, and graph
databases.

DATABASE MANAGMENT SYSTEM
A database management system (or DBMS)
is essentially nothing more than a
computerized data-keeping system. Users of
the system are given facilities to perform
several kinds of operations on such a system
for either manipulation of the data in the
database or the management of the
database structure itself.

DATABASEQUERIES
A query in a database is a request for
information from a database management
system (DBMS), which is the software
program that maintains data. Users can
make a query to retrieve data or change
information in a database, such as adding or
removing data.

SQL
SQL database or relational database is a
collection of highly structured tables, wherein
each row reflects a data entity, and every
column defines a specific information field.
Relational databases are built using the
structured query language (SQL) to create,
store, update, and retrieve data. Therefore,
SQL is the underlying programming
language for all relational database
management systems (RDBMS) such as
MySQL, Oracle, and Sybase, among others.

SELECT STATEMENT
The SELECT statement is used to select
data from a database. The data returned is
stored in a result table, called the result-set.

SUB QUERIES
A subquery is a query that is nested inside a
SELECT , INSERT , UPDATE , or DELETE
statement, or inside another subquery
A subquery is a query that appears inside
another query statement. Subqueries are
also referred to as sub- SELECT s or nested
SELECT s. The full SELECT syntax is valid in
subqueries.

DESIGN TOOLS
Design tools are objects, media, or computer
programs, which can be used to design. They
may influence the process of production,
expression and perception of design
ideas[1] and therefore need to be applied
skillfully.
Design tools are software programs or online
platforms that allow designers to create
digital designs for a variety of purposes.
These tools are used in many different fields,
including graphic design, web design,
product design, and architectural design.

TYPES OF DESIGN TOOLS
When it comes to design tools, there are
numerous types available that cater to
different stages and areas of the design
process. The most basic types of design tools
include sketching and ideation tools, which
allow designers to create rough sketches and
ideas. These tools can range from simple
paper and pencil to digital sketching
applications. Another type of design tool is
prototyping tools, which are focused on
helping designers create quick iterations of
their designs.

GRAPHICS DESIGN TOOLS
Graphic design tools are programs or
software that can help graphic designers
complete their work. These online tools can
allow a designer to efficiently brainstorm,
create, edit and share their designs with
clients

NX TOOL
NX is a flexible, powerful software that
helps deliver better products faster
with next-generation design and
manufacturing solutions using the
digital twin.

SOLID WORK TOOL
It’s one of the most popular design and
engineering software on the market.
Known for its range of features and
high functionality, SOLIDWORKS is
used across multiple professions and
industries around the world.

WEB APPLICATION
GMAIL

GMAIL
The Gmail or Google Mail is a free email
service introduced by Google. It allows
sending and receiving mails over the
Internet. We can also send an email to
multiple users at a time. The Gmail site is a
type of Webmail. We can access the Gmail
from Web and as an application in Mobile
devices. We can also use the third-party
program to access the Gmail. Such programs
synchronize the email content through the
protocols IMAP (Internet Message Access
Protocol) or POP (Post Office Protocol)

KEY FEATURES OF GMAIL
Emails are automatically date and time
stamped. signatures can be attached. files,
graphics or sound can be sent as
attachments , often in compressed formats.
webmail and mobile email can be used to
receive and send messages while on the
move.

COMPOSING AND SENDING
EMAIL
You can compose and send your email
messages as soon as you write them;
compose a draft and return to it later to
finish and send, or compose the message
and specify a time in the future to send the
message. You can customize your options for
composing messages in
your Preferences>Mail page.

INBOX ORGANIZATION
In other email programs, you might have
stored email in folders. In Gmail, you use
labels to categorize your email. Labels are
like folders, but with a twist—you can apply
several labels to an email, then later find the
email by clicking any of its labels from the
left panel. You can also search by label.

SECURITY AND PRIVACY
Gmail works hard to protect you from spam,
phishing and malware, before they reach
your inbox. Our AI-enhanced spam-filtering
capabilities block nearly 10 million spam
emails every minute.
Gmail uses TLS (Transport Layer
Security) as a standard for keeping your
emails secure. While both the sender and the
receiver's email providers need TLS enabled
to work, there's no need to worry – most
email providers support TLS

GMAIL MOBILE APP
The official Gmail app brings the best of
Gmail to your Android phone or tablet with
robust security, real-time notifications,
multiple account support, and search that
works across all your mail.
