GOOD MORNING CHILDREN

PRAYER

Let’s Review

Identifying Basic
Shapes (TWO-
DIMENSIONAL
FIGURES)

Look at the sign saying “SLOW” how many
sides does it have?
What else do you notice about the sides?

How about the sign which says “YIELD”?
how many sides are there in the figure?
YIELD

The “SLOW DOWN, SCHOOL AHEAD” is
another shape.
What can you say about the sides of this
figure?

The sign “Bicycle not allowed” has another
shape. What shape can you see?
Compare it with the shapes in a, b, and c.

Do you know the four basic shapes and why
they are called two-dimensional figures?

We have names for the shapes of the road
signs we see along the road. We call them
Basic shapes
Suppose I am a basic shape. Can you help
me describe myself?

I have____________equal sides.
I have____________ corners
Can you guess what they call me?

My shape in this sign is
Unlike my friend square, I
Have__________ sides. My sides may or may not be
the same length
They call me_______________
Anybody knows?
YIELD

Look at me, somehow, I look
Like my friend SQUARE because
I also have 4 corners and ______sides. But unlike the
square, my sides are not all equal. Each pair of opposite
sides are equal length
I am called

This is my basic shape for the sign “NO BICYCLES
ALLOWED
I am also a shape. Unlike my three friends I have no corners
and I am round.
Does anybody know me?

Look around your classroom.. can you still see some
objects with different shapes?

Individual activity

Look for squares, rectangles, triangles
and circles. Follow the color code. Color all the square shapes
RED, color all triangle shapes GREEN, color all rectangle
shape BLUE and all circle shapes YELLOW.

Group activity

The shapes square, triangle, rectangle and circle are flat
shapes. Let us get to know them better.
Let us do the following activity. You will need some art
papers and a pair of scissors. Be careful when you use
the pair of scissors. You may ask help from me if you
can’t do it.
Group the children into 4

A. Using a red art paper, draw a square on it. (copy the shape
given at the start of the lesson.
B. Using a blue art paper, draw a rectangle on it. (copy the
shape given at the start of the lesson.
C. Using a green art paper, draw a triangle on it. (copy the
shape given at the start of the lesson.
D. Using a yellow art paper, draw a circle on it. (copy the shape
given at the start of the lesson.

E. CUT OUT THE SHAPES USİNG A PAİR OF SCİSSORS.
PASTE YOUR WORK İN THE SPACE BELOW. THE SHAPES MUCH
MATCH THE LABELS GİVEN. DESCRİBE THE SHAPES AGAİN İN
YOUR OWN WORDS.

LET’S DO THE GAMES SPİNNİNG
WHEEL
EVERY COLOR HAS A CORRESPONDİNG QUESTİON
ABOUT BASİC SHAPES. THE CHİLDREN WİLL ANSWER THE
QUESTİON BEİNG ASK.

TELL THE BASİC SHAPE THAT YOU WİLL SEE İN THE
PİCTURES.

ROOF OF THE HOUSE 1.

2.WHEEL OF THE JEEPNEY

3.HAT OF A WİZARD

4. FLAG OF THE PHİLİPPİNES

5.PİCTURE FRAME

DİVİDE THİS SQUARE TO FORM TWO TRİANGLES1.
2. DİVİDE THİS RECTANGLE TO FORM TWO SQUARES.

3. DİVİDE THE SQUARE TO FORM 4 TRİANGLES WİTH THE SAME SİZE.
4. HOW MANY OF THİS SHAPE WİLL FORM A CİRCLE? SHOW HOW YOU
WİLL FORM A CİRCLE USİNG THE SHAPE.

1.HOW MANY OF THİS WİLL FORM A CİRCLE? SHOW HOW YOU WİLL
FORM A CİRCLE USİNG THİS SHAPE.

A. ASSİGNMENT
MATCH UP NAMES WİTH THE İTEMS THAT ARE THE SAME SHAPE. CONNECT
THEM WİTH THE LİNE.
