2. Deception in the novel The theme of deception is portrayed through the character of Zaib . Why aren't you pregnant yet? What's wrong with you? Are you barren? As this novel talks about the life of Pakistani people and how they are entangled/ Knotted through religious deception . In order to get rid of infertility , her mother in law tries to hide suspecious Yawee in her cupboard even though she was perfectly fine and healthy.

3. This shows, how much Pakistani people relay upon the taweez culture. They don't just ask God for help rather they would let themselves to be scammed by fake pirs . The theme of deception is portrayed time and again in the novel.one such character that portrays deception is Tameezuddin , who became the pir sahab of Murtaza's family. He makes a remarks to womens that they should not show their faces to ' naa mehram ' But in reality he committed a murder of his own mother.

4. The above argument has discussed further in detail through Tameezuddin when he adopts the idea of being fake pir from another fake pir who he met in the shrine. Pir sahab was shown as a scam and only pretended to be a Pir for money. Moreover, the Pir Sahab asks Manju to bring some food and chars and a whole bottle of liquor.
