The Social worker must access the client in the context of his or her environment. This assessment focuses on the transaction between the client and the environment. The adequacy of the environment must depend on the client lifestyle, both physical and mental health interests, aspirations, interests and so on . Social Environment The Social Environment is intertwined with the physical environment. The Culture plays an important aspect in the clients life . During social interactions it involves the perceptions of people and how they think about the natural world which is because of the cultures that the individual was educated into, the people and the institutions that they interact with. Therefore culture is influenced both the physical and social environment .

The agency itself has it's own environment that may be a disadvantage or advantage of effective practice. Some factors that contributes to an effective working environment are: A supportive atmosphere where request and conflict is created bt the worker. Workers must demonstrate an attitude of care , warmth and willingness to help the client find and use strengths. For the therapeutic environment the office must be conductive with no distractions.
