Navajo Location Live in southwestern united states today, they cover parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The basic idea that the Navajo came from forests far to the north.
Way to live they adapt to their lands by learned to hunt and farm in the desert with little rain. Navajo’s began to herd sheep and goats to use in food and wove warm blankets which known for their unique designs.
they teach their children to respect nature, so they help their culture to continue. They belief that nature is sacred, feel cloth to their lands and living things ,and they belief in holy people or spirits.
Ceremony Navajo nation was belief in sand painting brings power to cure the ill people ,so they mad a ceremony for that . it was happened by the medicine man’s helper he takes careful measurements before he begins ,the figures must be the right size and in right place. Then medicine man directed him how to fill it by colors, and when the sand painting is done he checks it. Each line and color must be in the right place
Yurok Location : lived in northern coast of California
Way to live they adapts their lives to fit forests and river resources so they hunted animals fished for salmon along rivers like ‘Klamath river gathered corns to eat . built them houses by using redwood planks.
Culture they felt that the nature was sacred so when they changed their environment ,they did that with great care
Economy based on trade even just exchange one item for another{ barter } or by using them money . Yurok money was tooth shells .they was treaded for thing they couldn’t make in or find in their own environment.
Cherokee Location long ago they lived in the southeastern United States.
Way to live they depended on forests .rivers, and rich soil to survive . They hunted, fished, gathered, and farmed. They built towns along rivers and streams .they lived in different houses in summer and winter
Trail of tears for thousands of years they lived in south. The coming of Europeans changed their way of life. By 1820s the Cherokee were trading with the settlers. By 1830s the united states forced most of Cherokee to leave their homes to traveled a hundred of miles west to new Oklahoma it was called “trail of tears “ .
Culture Cherokee was a very educated nation they had a newspaper they had own language which created by Sequoyah who finished 86 letters based on spoken sounds
Haudenosaunee Location northeastern forests
Way to live their women grew crops at summer and stored it for winter men hunted animals for meat, and use the skin for clothing. They live in longhouses six to ten families lived together forming one clan . The oldest woman of the clan was the clan mother or “ leader” of the long house
Government there was many haudenosaunee they often fought about who hunt or farm in certain areas. But there was a holy man whose called “ Hiawatha”agreed with the peace maker to set peace between the five nations . he asked them to bury their weapons . then planted a pin tree.
After that the peace maker and Hiawatha helped the haudenosaunee to form a new government . Fifty leaders from all five nation met for the grand council . According to haudenosaunee tradition . the peacemaker set out a constitution . At first the five nation agreed to follow it . later a six group joined them.
