INTRODUCTION Malaria is a life threatening public health parasitic disease . (Ismail et al., 2022 ) Malaria infection during pregnancy is a significant public health problem, primarily in tropical and sub-tropical regions; with substantial risks for the mother, her fetus and the newborn .( Sani A.F et al, 2015 ) Nigeria accounts for one-quarter of all malaria cases in the 45 endemic countries in Africa . ( WHO, 2012 )

PROBLEM STATEMENT Malaria is a major cause of maternal morbidity. Those at greatest risk of severe forms of the disease and death are children under the age of 5 years and pregnant women. Its prevalence is still high and thus this study is aimed at finding out its trend among pregnant women attending antenatal care at PHCC Town Maternity Gidan Magani .

JUSTIFICATION OF THE STUDY The prevalence of malaria among pregnant women attending PHCC Town Maternity is unknown. This study sets out to find the prevalence of malaria in pregnant women attending PHCC Town Maternity in order to generate data for future reference.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES Aim The aim of the study is to generate information concerning the prevalence of malaria among pregnant women attending antenatal care at PHCC Town Maternity Clinic Gidan Magani . Objectives To determine the prevalence of malaria among pregnant women in relation to age group. To determine the prevalence of malaria among pregnant women in relation to trimester . To determine the prevalence of malaria among pregnant women in relation to their educational status.

MATERIALS AND METHODS Study Area S tudy was conducted at PHCC Town Maternity Gidan Magani , Gombe State. Sample processing Total of 150 pregnant women attending the antenatal care was screen for malaria parasite within three months of laboratory work i.e October, November and December 2023. Sample collection Blood samples were collected using vein puncture technique and analyses microscopically.

RESULTS Table 1.0: Prevalence of malaria parasite in pregnant women attending Antenatal care at PHCC Gidan Magani , Gombe in relation to their trimester.
