4. Setting The film takes place in New York City. The year is 2025, and the season is Autumn. The sky gets darker at 4:30pm EST, and the clouds get gloomier. This weather showcases the protagonist’s mental state in the first half of the film. In the second half, we see the weather change into Spring, 2026.

5. Meet Beatrix, the Protagonist She’s turning 32 in a few weeks. Two weeks ago, she lost her girlfriend, Emerald, in a car accident. With parents who can’t comprehend the severity of her emotions, she’s been struggling to talk to someone about it. A painter and online food writer by hobby, she works professionally as a metalsmith. Beatrix dislikes the idea of being helped but appreciates being cared for. She's very sensitive to loud sounds and bright lights, so her noise-canceling headphones and small lamps are her best friends.

6. Meet Fenil, the love interest He is a 37-year-old meteorologist who has recently divorced and is now on a journey of self-discovery. Accompanied by his younger yet wiser brother, Olivier, he carefully travels to every obscure corner of the planet. He meets Beatrix at a new clinic where he begins to volunteer. He enjoys holding a book and eating the same foods every day.

7. Meet Emerald, the girlfriend Emerald, true to her name, is rare, luxurious, patient, and compassionate. Her laugh is contagious, and she believes in living life without any expectations. She has been Beatrix’s best friend since middle school, and their bond went through several stages of confusion until they began their romantic relationship in college. Despite her laid-back attitude, her favorite color is black.

8. Meet Ben, the father Ben is a 78-year-old man who spends most of his time checking in on his friends, whom he affectionately calls "his neighbors." He is passionate about his mini garden on his balcony and finds amusement in calling people just to hang up on them. Ben loves his daughter, Beatrix, but he often struggles to empathize with her in the way she desires.

9. Story After beginning the grieving process over the death of her girlfriend, Emerald, Beatrix struggles to maintain her corporate job and function as she used to. She starts experiencing severe anxiety attacks and decides to see her doctor. Diagnosed with adult autism, she begins her journey of "unmasking" by stepping out of her comfort zone and traveling to the other end of her neighborhood. Each day, she walks back and forth, often retreating back to her house. One day, she meets Fenil, the man she's had a crush on ever since he started giving weather updates on television. Fenil and Beatrix befriend each other and start a journey of healing with each other's support. That is, until there’s another death in the neighborhood.
