CLIMATE It Tolerate heat and drought It Prefers moist and warm Climate. Optimum mean temperature for it cultivation is 26C to 30C.
Soil Pigeon pea grow on various type of soil form Sandy to clay Loam. Optimum pH of soil range is between 7 to 8.5 Very sensitive to saline and alkaline soil.
Seedbed preparation 1Deep ploughing, 2-3 harrowing and levelling is necessary for seedbed preparation.
sowing time and Method Sowing Time: July Sowing Method: Line sowing The depth of seeding is 5cm. Row to Row distance 45-60cm. Plant to plant distance 10-15cm.
Seed Rate In early maturing varities 8-10kg/acre. In late Maturing varities 6-8kg/acre.
Fertilizer requirement Nitrogen 10kg/acre Phosphorus 20kg/acre Potassium 12kg/acre All the fertilizer are drilled in furrows at a depth of 5 cm and at the side of 5cm from seed.
