What is a pronoun ? Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns. We use pronouns in our writing so that we don’t sound repetitive. For example :- Ram is very talkative . Ram is not listening the class. Ram’s handwriting is not neat. In the above sentences, you see that ram is repeated. Here we use pronoun as ‘he’ and ‘his’ now let’s see the sentence- Ram is very talkative . He is not listening the class. His handwriting is not neat.

Pronoun Subject I, he, they, we, she, you Object Them, us, me, you, him, her Replaces a noun used as the subject of sentence Replaces a noun used after an action verb or preposition

Types of pronoun There are 7 types of Pronoun. T hey are : Personal pronoun Indefinite pronoun Definite pronoun Relative pronoun Interrogative pronoun Demonstrative pronoun Reflexive pronoun

1) Personal pronoun Personal pronoun refers to a specific person ,group or object. You , I , he she, it, we, they, me, him, her, us, them. Sentences example – I will to talk to him tomorrow She is writing with her pencil He said to not to tell anything to you . They called me and said to write. We are always equal. She always fights with them. 2) Indefinite pronoun Indefinite pronoun does not refer to a specific person or object. anyone, each, everyone, nothing, all, some, many Sentence example- everyone should write all the tables. Many of us have nothing to eat. E ach of us have some talent. Anyone can tell what to do? 3) Definite pronoun Definite pronoun refer to a specific person or object & it has quantity too. Sentence example Varenya bought 2 kg of apples Ravi’s water tanker has 3.245l of water I drink 1 L of milk everyday. We should drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. We should do homework. Ravi said. Relative pronoun Relating a word or clause together Who are you ? for whom are you waiting ? Which is that book? Where you went & why? Whose birthday today do you know ? When you will come to my home?

Interrogative & demonstrative Interrogative means asking questions Who are you ? F or whom are you waiting ? Which is that book? Where you went & why ? Whose birthday today do you know ? When you will come to my home? Demonstrative pronoun represent a thing or things. Nearby ~ this, these far away ~ that, those Examples are- This is my book and that is your book. These are my chocolates and those are your chocolates.

Reflexive pronoun Examples- I have cleaned my room myself . We have made this project by ourselves Do your chores yourselves He picked the apple by himself They drew themselves The lion saw its face in water by itself
