It is a word that names a person, place,
thing, quality, idea or an action.

1. Gender

4. Case

Gender
a property of noun that indicates
the nouns sex.

BSEE 29
Types of Gender
1. Masculine - refers to males
2. Feminine - for females
3. Common - refers to either male or female
4. Neuter - a noun without gender

Number
a property of noun that indicates
whether the noun is one or more than
one noun is referring to.

Types of Number
1. Singular - refers to one person, place
or thing
2. Plural - refers to two or more person,
place or thing

Rules:
1. The noun that forms plural by adding 's' to
their singular form.
2. If the singular nnoun ends in 's, x, z, ch or
sh' just add 'es' to form its plural.

Rules:
3. If the noun ends in 'o' preceded by a
consonant form add 'es' to form its plural.
4. If the noun ends in 'o' preceded by a
vowel form add 's' to form its plural

Rules:
5. The noun that ends in 'f' or 'fe' change it to
'v' then add 'es'.
6. Other rule is a noun that ends in 'y'
preceded by a consonant change 'y' to 'i'
then add 'es'.

7. If the noun ends in 'y' preceded by a vowel
form just add 's' to form its plural.
8. Other nouns have irregular plural form

the speaker, the person spoken to,
amd the person spoken of.

of a noun in a sentence

subject in a sentence, subject complement,
noun of address and appositive

a. Subject- tells what the sentence is about
b. Subject complement - explain and names the
subject

the person addressed to
d. Appositive - explains another noun before it is
called

or possession
