•Customer implemented Global HR in HCM Cloud; continues using existing systems
for other functions like Benefits, Time tracking.
•Need to send high-volume Personal & Employment data with complex requirements
to different vendors regularly.
Solution:
•HCM Extract is recommended for high-volume data & complex extraction needs.
•In future, if changes-only data is required, existing HCM Extract can be quickly
changed to implement changes-only functionality.
•BIP template to convert XML to required format.

Use Case 2 : Send HR data changes for Coexistence
Use Case:
•Customer moved all HR functions to HCM Cloud, except Payroll. Payroll continues in
EBS / legacy system.
•Need to send the changesin Personal, Employment & Salary data from HCM Cloud
regularly, for Payroll processing in the other system.
Solution:
•HCM Extract supports different types of changes-only functionalities.
•If the target system is on premise (customer-managed), leverage the flexibility to
define the output files formats.

Use Case 3 : Generate letters & store in Document
Records
Use Case:
•Customer wants to generate letters for workers like Employment Renewal, Promotion
letter, Transfer letter, Separation documents.
•Instead of storing the letters on local/shared drives, Customer wants to store them in
Workers’ document records, so that all documents are in a single place.
Solution:
•Use bursting and Document of Records features of HCM Extract to generate
individual letters for multiple employees in bulk.
•RTF template to convert XML file to letter/pdf format.

Use Case 3 : Generate letters & store in DOR
Create Extract. Create BIP RTF template.
Copy globalReportsDataModelto a custom one and edit the custom data model:
Change the Split By& Delivery Byin custom data model to the X-path of unique data element
like Person_ID
Change the Bursting query to get details from Extract Delivery Options
Create Report using above custom data model & RTF template
Enable Burstingin Report Properties. Add permissions to the Report.

Best Practices
•Start Integrations early in the implementation. Do not wait for bulk data load.
•Iterative approach to build the Extract.
•Many calculations are better performed in Extract, limit the logic in BIP template.
•Header, footer & grouping requirements are better handled in BIP template, instead
of Extract.
•Purge Archive tables.
•Huge volume of data:
–Leverage the multi-threading capability in Extracts.
–Use the compress feature to reduce the output size.

Important new features in recent Updates
21C:
•New Preview option to verify the extracts design before finalizing the definition. It allows you to
verify the output structure of a sample data set by providing specific parameter values for defined
parameters, if any.
21B:
•Extract Definition cannot be run as incremental extract if Changes Onlyset to No. To run
incremental extract, make copy of such extract definition and import it with Changes Onlyset to
Yes.
