WHAT IS PUBLIC AREAS AND THEIR CLEANING PROCEDURE IN HOUSEKEEPING DEPARTMENT IN A HOTEL

Public Area and its cleaning procedure in hotels . I came to know about so many new things. I am really thankful to Her.

3. PUBLIC AREA IN HOTEL Guest requires common areas to meet, sit and carry other activities. The place comes under the are  lobby, restaurants, bars, banquets, and other Food and Beverage Outlets .

4. LOBBY Defination :- Lobby is the common meeting points of the guests near the reception. Many lobbies are carpeted while others are hard flooring.

5. Cleaning Check all the ashtrays and the main porch area. Remove garbage from the dustbins and clear them if required. Spray disinfectant on a dry cloth and clean telephones . Spray windows and glass surface with Taski R3 or with the solution of vinegar + warm water + salt . Sweep the lobby floor thoroughly. Furniture is to be dusted. All the upholstery is to be vacuumed cleaned. Use heavy duty vacuum cleaner to vacuum all the carpeted area on the lobby/front office Place appropriate signage to warn the guest before mopping lobby floor Clean all marble /tiles/wood skirting with a damp cloth daily.

6. RESTAURANT A Restaurant or an eatery, is a business which prepare and surves food and drinks to customers in exchange of money. Meals are generally surves and eat on the premises

7. Cleaning Vacuum the entire carpeted area and upholstery. Wipe the dummy waiter or host station. clean and disinfect the telephones. Dust all the furniture in the restaurant . Polish furniture if required. If any food spills are found on carpet then follow the spot cleaning as per the standard procedure. Daily clean the restaurant toilets also.

8. BAR A  BAR  is a retail business establishment that serves alcoholic beverages, such as beer, wine, liquor, cocktails, and other beverages such as mineral water and soft drinks and often sell snack foods such as crisps (potato chips) or peanuts, for consumption on premises

9. WATER CLOSET The Concept of Water Closet – meaning indoor rooms with toilets – become popular in wealthy residences and luxury hotels

10. SWIMMING POOL A  swimming pool  is a large hole in the ground that has been made and filled with water so .. swimming pool  is available for fun or exercise.

11. Cleaning procedure . Clean walls of the pool. Remove leafs from the water surface if possible. Use chlorine for filtration of water daily.

12. CABANA ROOM CABANA ROOM- Cabana room is a room which is generally situated near by swimming pool and made for changing and for taking shower as well

13. FLOOR TERRACE A  terrace  is an external, raised, open, flat area in either a landscape near a building

14. ELEVATORS An  elevator  (US and Canada) or lift is a type of vertical transportation that moves people or goods between floors (levels, decks) of a building, vessel, or other structure.

15. Cleaning procedure Wipe the ceiling and lights with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth. Clean the mirrors. Wipe button with a damp duster. Dust around edges in the elevators. Mop floor-eliminating stain. Vacuum carpets using a high power vacuum cleaner .

16. BANQUET The word BANQUET is derived from the French word ( Banque ) which means mass or gathering of people. Banquet is the large catering area where food and beverages are served

17. Cleaning procedures Vacuuming and Brooming the carpet. . Emptying the waste or basket. . Remove or replace soiled linen. . Dusting the wall of hall Scrubbing the floors periodically Air conditioners should be cleaned periodically

18. SHOPPING ARCADE A  shopping arcade  is a modern, chiefly North American, term for a form of  shopping precinct  or  shopping center , in which one or more buildings form a complex of  shops  representing merchandisers with interconnecting  walkways  that enable customers to walk from unit to unit.

19. COFFEE SHOP COFFEE SHOP is a multicuisine restaurant which is open for 24 hours in a hotel which generally surves beverages like tea, coffee drinks or etc.
