INTRODUCTION Success of a fighting service depends on the capacity of each component member to fulfil completely the individual tasks assigned to him/her. PULHEEMS assesses the individual characteristics of the man. The requirements of the occupation in which he is to be employed. Emphasis: the final assessment allotted to any individual must rest with the medical officer responsible for allocating it. Final decisions rests on sound clinical judgement.

DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM PULHEEMS is a system of medical classification used in the Armed Forces. It involves; a detailed qualitative estimation of the individual. a quantitative analysis of the employment requirements, expressed in the same terms. The final assessment allotted to any individual depends on the clinical judgment of the medical officer responsible for allocating it. It should be based on function, that is the capacity of the work involved in a given type of duty.
