HISTORY:
HOW TO PLAY?
• A player on one of the teams begins a “rally” by serving the ball from behind the back boundary line of the
court, over the net and into the recovering.
• The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. They may touch the ball as many as 3
times.
• The rally continues, with each team allowed as many as 3 consecutive touches.
•The team that wins the rally is awarded a point, and serves the ball to start the next rally.
• The game continues, with the first team to score 25 points, awarded to set. Matches are best of five sets and
the fifth set is usually played to 15 points.
• The ball is usually played with the hands or arms, but players can legally strike or push the ball with any part of
the body.

In this formation, four players are attackers and two are setters
The front-court setter sets, while the back-court setter plays as a defender
6-2 formation
Offers more flexibility than the 4-2 formation and introduces the concept of a back-row setter
5-1 formation
An advanced formation with one setter and five hitters
In this formation, the right side hitter doesn't receive serves
W formation
