Flashback to 2008
Lake practically non-existent.
A marshy dump yard.
Encroached by hutments.

“Save the Lake” campaign with a mission to put

lakes for restoration
•BBMP commenced restoration in 2010

Flashback 2009/ 2010
•A charitable trust,
Puttenahalli Neighbourhood
Lake Improvement Trust
(PNLIT) was formed in
June 2010

•The BBMP and PNLIT together plant 125 trees in Jul-Oct 2010
•PNLIT signed an MOU with BBMP to maintain lake for three years, in
May 2011
2010/11 – Restoration process gained
momentum
June 2010
October 2010

PNLIT employs gardeners,
sweepers and other help.
The Lake at present
Teems with aquatic and avian life,
attracts people, prevents flooding,
recharges the water table.
