tenses correctly I n varied
contexts
Study the following sentences:
1. Mario stole an apple from the factory last night.
2. Gloria asked Marlo where he came from
3 Mario was not able to give his week's salary
How can using proper verb tenses
create clear writing?
The underlined word in each sentence denotes a past action.
These verbs are in the simple past tense. It is used to refer to an
action that happened in a definite time in the past.

Regular verbs such as walk, open, and show form their past by adding-
’d’or ‘-ed’ The plural form of the linking verbs is and are ‘are’ was and were
Irregular verbs, on the other hand, form their past tense by changing their
spelling.
