OBJECTIVE At the end of the lesson, you a re expected to compare the l iving things and nonliving t hings with it’s characteristics.

LIVING THINGS AND NONLIVING THINGS

LIVING THINGS

Living things grow and develop . They increase in size and change in appearance.

Living things need energy . They get energy from the food they eat. Plants make their own food using water, air, and sunlight.

Animals depend on plants and other animals to survived.

Humans eat fruits, vegetables and meat.

All living things breathe to get energy and stay alive. They have body parts that help them to breathe. Humans have lungs.

Water animals such as fish have gills. Grasshoppers have tiny airholes .

Plants breathe through the small openings called stomata in their leaves.

Living things perform different movements . Humans can walk, run, jump and swim.

Frogs and kangaroos can hop or leap. Horses gallop.

Earthworms and snakes have slow crawling movements.

Dragonflies, bees, birds and other winged animals, use their wings to fly.

Fish use their tails to swim.

Plants cannot move from one place to another, but they can move their body parts.

NONLIVING THINGS DO NOT GROW DO NOT BREATHE DO NOT NEED FOOD THEY CANNOT MOVE BY THEMSELVES UNLESS AN OUTSIDE FORCE IS APPLIED.
