Purification
सकृद्धभृङ्गाम्बुना हललनं कासीसं र्नमिलं भवेत्।
कासीसं शुद्धधमाप्नोर्त र्त्ितैश्च रजसा हस्त्रयः ।।
For the purification of kasisa, it is given bhavana in bhringaraja juice or it may be kept immersed in
the same juice. It can also be purified by keeping or grinding the powdered kasisa in the pitta (bile)
of animals, or menstrual fluid of women.

10. Method of preperation
Prepare the fine powders of all the ingredients and mix them together by triturating in
khalva yantra. Then it should be lavigate it with kumari svaraka for one day. Prepare it
pills of one canaka (375 mg.) each uniformly and dry them in shade. On drying, these
pills should be stored in glass bottles. This preparation is known as Rajahpravartini vați
and it has been formulated by Acārya Nilakantha. It cures the diseases just like fire
destroys the trees.

12. Action of drug
“Rajah Pravirtini Vati” has Katu(pungent)-Tikta(bitter) Rasa, Laghu(light),
Snighdha(unctuous) and Tikshna(sharp) Guna, Katu Vipaka and Ushna
Virya(active potency). Tikta(bitter) taste and Tikshna (sharp) property of drug
removes the Srotoavarodha and facilitates flow of Vata; Katu Vipaka and Ushna
Virya pacifies the aggravated Vata and thus allows the painless flow of Artava.

❑Randomised clinical study of 25 patients of primary dysmenorrhea is conducted.
❑Therapeutic Effect of (“Rajah-Pravartini-Vati” orally) Patients of this group showed relief
by improvement in 54.69% in pain intensity, 53.97% in pain duration, 56.92% in nature of
pain, -3.92% in menstrual flow duration, -25.00% in menstrual flow amount, 47.27% in
associated symptoms and 47.95%, 53.23% and 40.91% in VAS scale , FLACC scale and
WONG BAKER scale respectively.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India and Central Ayurveda Research Institute for Respiratory Disorders,
Moti Bagh Road, Patiala, Punjab, India.

❑Rajahpravartini Vati was selected for this study keeping in view that it contains Kumari satwa, which is a
good liver stimulant drug and also act as Rajah pravartaka (menstruation). Kanchanar Guggulu and
Varunadi Kashaya were selected for their effect on cysts
❑From the result, it is concluded that the trial drugs have a significant effect on hirsutism,
oligomenorrhea, and overall improvement in the QOL of women with PCOS

15. Conclusion
❑Ayurveda considers proper formation of artava as a sign of normal bija
development which is essential for the formation of Garbha. Rajapravartini
vati ensures proper formation of artava and bija from the rasa dhatu and
helps in correcting menstrually abnormalities and thus aids in
conception.Hence the formulation can be considered as a promising
candidate in the management of gynaecological disorders pertaining to
menstruation.
