2. W hen is Ramadan? Ramadan is the 9 th month in the Islamic calendar. The exact dates of Ramadan change every year, This is because Islam uses a calendar based on the cycles of the moon. It begins with the sighting of the crescent moon

3. What happens during Ramadan? During Ramadan muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. T hey have one meal before dawn called suhoor and a meal directly after sunset called iftar. Fasting (sawm) is one of the 5 pillars of islam, and is an obligation for those able to fast. When Ramadan begins the gates of paradise are open and the gates of hell are closed. T he Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan, the day the Quran was revealed is called the night of power ( Laylatul Qadr ). W hich comes on the last 5 odd nights of Ramadan but the exact day is not known.
