NON-SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF MANDIBULAR FIRST MOLAR USING METAPEX AS ROOT CANAL MEDICAMENT Case 15
A 13 years old male patient came to D ept. of Pedodontics and Preventive D entistry with the chief complaint of mild continuous pain in right side of mandible since 6 months . Intraoral examination– showed carious exposure of 16 & mild tenderness to percussion.
Intraoral periapical radiograph shows carious 16 with pulpal exposure and large radiolucency involving both mesial and distal roots.
Treatment plan : Non surgical treatment of periapical radiolucency by intra canal placement of calcium hydroxide Followed by root canal treatment and crown.
Access opened in 16 without anaesthesia, bmp done in MBC & MLC and DC. Intracanal Metapex given in all three canals. Access cavity filled with glass ionomer cement . Patient recalled after 1½ month.
Patient was advised to come after next 1 ½ month . After 1 ½ month, IOPAR taken showing decrease in radiolucency ,
IOPAR showing normal bone pattern in periapical region of both roots .
Obturation done by guttapercha followed by cast metal crown
