OBJECTIVEs Adolescence Puberty Primary and Secondary Sexual Characteristics Hormones Reproductive phase of a woman

Adolescence and puberty Adolescence is a transition period between childhood to adulthood .It involves various psychological and physical changes in a individual and rapid spurt in growth. This take part in the years of 10-19 years. Puberty is the period of onset of sexual maturity in humans and involves distinct physical changes in the body.

Primary and Secondary sexual Characteristics The characteristics are present at the time of birth are called Primary Sexual Characteristics. The characteristics are present at the time of puberty are called Secondary Sexual Characteristics. Ex. Moustache, Beard and Adam Apple are some examples of Secondary Sexual Characteristics.

Adam’s APPLE An adult male has a deep and hoarse voice , whereas a child has a soft voice .The Adult male develops a large voice or larynx which makes their voice deeper. The large voice box in males often seen as protruding structure and referred as Adam’s Apple.

Hormones and endocrine glands The changes associated with puberty are under the influence of certain chemical substance produced in our body. These chemical are known as Hormones and organs secreting these hormones are called Endocrine Glands.

REPRODUCTIVE PHASE OF WOMAN Every month a ovum gets matured in either of the ovaries of female and released into a Fallopian tube and this process is called Ovulation. The beginning of menstrual cycle is called Menarche . The sequence of events of events such as ovulation, menstrual flow are called menstrual cycle.
