India burden: India has 188.3 million adults aged 30-79 years with hypertension The prevalence in india is 31% To ensure 50% control rate ,India needs to ensure an additional 67 million people with hypertension receive effective treatment If the progress is achieved 4.6 million deaths due to hight blood pressure would be averted

WHO’s call to action: Prioritise prevention,early detection and effective management of hypertension as a part of national benefit packages Strenghtening hypertension control must become an integral part of every country’s journey towards universal health coverage

WHO recommends R21/Matrix-M vaccine for malaria prevention in updated advice on immunization WHO recommended R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine , to prevent malaria in children at risk of the diseases Co-developed by the  University of Oxford and the Serum Institute of India. Study exploring the effectiveness of Maternal COVID-19 vaccination A case-control study conducted across 26 hospitals in the United States sheds light on the  effectiveness of the maternal COVID-19 vaccine in protecting infants<6 months from hospitalization. Maternal vaccination status was determined in women who had received at least two doses of the mRNA vaccine, at least one of which happened during pregnancy, or one dose of the viral vector vaccine followed by at least one dose of the mRNA vaccine during pregnancy. 377 cases and 339 controls were selected.  Vaccine effectiveness (VE) was determined as (1 – adjusted odds ratio) x 100%. The VE was:  35%(15%–51%) among infants aged six months 54%(32%–68%)  among infants aged three months  Maternal vaccination significantly reduced the odds of COVID-19-related hospitalization among infants <6 months. The steps taken are:  Teams with fully efficient health professionals.   ICMR- NIV and mobile units with BSL-3 laboratories.   Declaring quarantine in the affected zones in Kozhikode.   Dr. Mala Chabra has been designated to head the team assigned by the Union Health Ministry to support the state for this purpose.   The Union Health Ministry and ICMR-NIV are monitoring the issue daily to curb the outbreak. 15

Tamil Nadu launches ₹1,000 monthly grants for women-headed households Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has introduced the  " Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam "  in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, on the occasion of DMK founder C.N. Annadurai's birth anniversary.  This initiative aims to provide a monthly rights grant of ₹1,000 to 1.06 crore women heading households in the state.  16
