2. RULES FORMATION
1. With most verbs, the third person singular form is
created simply by adding -S.
He readsa book every month.
She learnsfast.

only THIRD PERSON SINGULAR subjects (he, she
and it) have to have a verb with -S

3. 2. For verbs that end in -O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X,or -
Zwe add -ESin the third person.

4. 3. For verbs that end in a consonant + Y, we
remove the Yand add -IES.
marry –marries
study –studies
carry –carries
worry –worries

5. 4. For verbs that end in a vowel + Y, we just add -S.

say –says
5. With plural pronouns (they, we, you) and the pronounI
the verb doesn’t change.
