If the verb ends in a consonant and -y, we change the -y to - i and add -ed. For example: BASE FORM PAST SIMPLE PAST PARTICIPLE Marry Mariied Married Study studied Studied If a verb ends in -e, we just add -d. For example: BASE FORM PAST SIMPLE PAST PARTICIPLE Hate Hated Hated Like Liked Liked
