A. IntroductionA. Introduction
Work immersion is necessary for students to
obtain experience in a real-world workplace. Before
being sent to the office, they must know the basics. To
develop good relationships, one needs to understand
proper work ethics, which refers to one's behaviors.
The workplace hazards must be identified. To avoid
injuries, proper equipment and item handling must be
known. There are workplace rights and responsibilities
considered to avoid discrimination and take advantage
of the employer, while guiding everyone to be more
productive.

Republic Act No. 10121 known as the “Philippine
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010”
requires the establishment of Local Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) in every
province, city, and municipality. Each LDRRMO must
also have an LDRRM Plan which it shall implement with
local partners and stakeholders. The LDRRMO at the
provincial, city, and municipal levels will set the
direction and develop, implement, and coordinate DRRM
programs.

B. The rationale of Work ImmersionB. The rationale of Work Immersion
The K–12 Basic Education Program aims
to help students acquire the skills, work
ethic, and values necessary for continuing
their education or entering the workforce.
Work Immersion is now an obligatory
subject in order to better align the nation's
development goals with the fundamental
education being provided.

C. Readiness for Work ImmersionC. Readiness for Work Immersion
Little did we know that a memorable one was about
to start when we began the work immersion on March
20–31.
Some of us have the right choice to choose what
we want to be and some don’t have the right
because of the thought that sometimes our parents
are the one who is a hindrance to what we want
someday for our future. Some people have a clear
idea of what they want to "be" when they grow up
since they are very young.

D. The Work Immersion EnvironmentD. The Work Immersion Environment
LDRRMO stands for Local Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Office. It is responsible for setting the direction,
development, implementation, and coordination of disaster risk
reduction and management programs.
It also facilitates and supports risk assessments and
contingency planning activities at the local level, consolidates local
disaster risk information, conducts research and development
initiatives on DRRM, and formulates and implements a
comprehensive and integrated Local DRRM Plan (LDRRMP)
Additionally, the staff's friendly, approachable, and positive
attitude had made our work environemnt comfortable, which made
it possible for us to effectively absorb all the knowledge and
become acquainted ourselves.

E. The Nature of WorkE. The Nature of Work

An emergency first aider is a qualified person who
offers emergency first aid services to safeguard the lives of
persons suffering from any illness or injury. Whatever the
issue, they ensure that it doesn't get worse while the
patient waits for the emergency medical services to arrive
at the designated location. Emergency first responders are
in charge of locating illnesses and injuries, establishing
diagnosis, and offering prompt care. In the event of a
medical emergency, emergency first responders are ready
to assist. Independent contractors must receive emergency
first aid training; it is offered by a variety of organizations,
and it is mandated by law.

F. Meeting the Work Immersion PersonnelF. Meeting the Work Immersion Personnel
The staff at Work Immersion extended a warm
welcome to us. They provided us a brief orientation
regarding their duties on our first day, but they didn't
also allow us to do anything we wanted because we had
to be familiar with their policies. They provided us with
flawless training, allowed us to engage with them in a
respectful manner despite the fact that they are still our
supervisors, and taught us everything we needed to
know to become certified first aider. Because they
assured us that we are considerate and aware of our
boundaries, they treated us kindly from the first day till
the last.

G. Working with Work Immersion's immediate supervisorG. Working with Work Immersion's immediate supervisor
During the work immersion, our supervisor is always
praising us for how hardworking and patient we are.
As students, while meeting with our supervisor, we are to
introduce ourselves and ask some questions about what to do
or offer help. After the orientation, we started our training in
basic first aid.
Our supervisor is a nurse, and as some of us are aspiring
nurses, we are eager to listen to her advice in life.
Considering that we spent ten days at LDRRMO (Local
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office), it is obvious
that we build strong relationships with our supervisor and
other staff that will make work immersion more enjoyable. I
must say we earned her trust.

Professionalism
Respect for others
Being attentive
Gentle - should not cause pain
Observant - should notice all signs
Resourceful - should make the best use
of things at hand
Tactful - should not alarm the victim
As a first aider

I. Auxiliary ServicesI. Auxiliary Services
During the work immersion, the LDRRMO is
conducting basic first aid training. As work
immersion students, we participated in their
training with different barangays in Ramon, which
allowed us to help the other trainees with their
activities, like the proper usage of triangular
bandages, CPR, and others. This event will help us
save lives. One of the first things you will learn
during your first aid training is that you must make
your safety a priority. It’s not being selfish; it’s
being practical.

J. ConferencesJ. Conferences
To achieve the 10-day work
immersion, the work immersion
teacher and supervisor must confer
so that it will be successful. They
should coordinate what the student
will do during the work immersion
based on their work immersion site.

K. Getting Acquainted with My
Career
K. Getting Acquainted with My
Career
A career is just as important
as any other aspect of life. And
we can’t leave a major area of
our life unattended whether it be
career, relationships, health, or
finances.

L. General ReflectionL. General Reflection
Local Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management taught us that having first aid
training undoubtedly helps save lives. That’s not
all, though; giving appropriate first aid
immediately can help reduce a person’s recovery
time. Just as it can mean the difference between
life and death, it can also make the difference
between the patient having a temporary or long-
term disability.
