A SMART ALERT SYSTEM TO ENSURE STERILE WORKSPACE IN A CLINICAL LABORATORY Presented By V.VINCY SHAMLEY EBEN [RA2112015010016] 2 nd year-M .Tech Department of Biomedical Engineering 9 May 2023 Dept.of Biomedical Engineering 1 GUIDED BY Dr. D. KATHIRVELU Assistant Professor Department of Biomedical Engineering

Introduction Saliva is a diagnostic fluid secreted from the salivary glands and it considers a good matrix for measuring biological activity. It is composed of 99% of water and 1% of protein, salt, and amylase, anciently doctors of traditional Chinese medicine describe saliva and blood are ‘brothers’ because it carries a wide range spectrum of genetic data. And it is one of the most accessible body fluids. the collection of samples is easy and non-invasive. It also transmits airborne diseases that spread infectious pathogens by the droplet. To avoid this type of transmitting disease a smart alert system is designed . 9 May 2023 Dept.of Biomedical Engineering 2

Aim To design a smart alert system to ensure a sterile workspace in a clinical environment using saliva and sputum as a specimen Objectives To develop a sensor module to identify the saliva and sputum droplets. To design an alert system in ensuring a sterile environment and thereby prevent transmission of communicable diseases 9 May 2023 Dept.of Biomedical Engineering 3
