RAM CHANDRA SERIES By- Amish Tripathi
1. Scion of Ikshvaku, RAM 2. Warrior of Mithila, SITA 3. Enemy of Arayavrta, RAAVAN
Rivew of Ram, scion of Ikshvaku This book is amazing, the story Is slightly different from the real Ramayana. It’s narration and character development Is excellent. Story basically starts when Dashrath and his allies lost badly to Raavan, leaving Ayodhya weakend .With mere Coincidence , First Prince of Dashrath , Ram , was born on the same day and Dashrath believed that Ram‘s Birth was inauspicious and said it to be ‘taint of 7,032’ ,the year that Dashrath was defeated and Ram was born. After Ram,the eldest son born from Kaushalya, Bharat from Kaikeyi was only 7 months younger than Ram and Laxman and Shatrugan from Sumitra were born. Author had portrayed Ram as Idealistic , One who considered laws are meant to be followed and all are equal in front of law while Bharat was Practical and Real , who thinks freedom to citizens will lead to good living among citizens .Laxman is portrayed as the cutest character among all and loyal to Ram while Shatrugan is shown as the one who keep himself engaged in Books and always stand beside Bharat . Ancient India had paved way for many civilizations that followed the two ways of living: masculine & feminine ways from which Ram has to choose.
Ram seeks a woman to love and respect insted of for political power. He doesn’t believe in polygamous marriage and finds it disrespectful to the wife. He finds his companion in Sita the princess of Mithila, adopted daughter of king Janaka where once again, the demon king Raavan crosses Ram’s path and Ram knocks him down with Daivi Astras after which he’s banished from Sapt Sindhu for 14 years following Dastrat’s orders. The book ended with Sita's kidnapping and Hanuman still on his way with other Parihans to meet Ram. I loved the efforts author has put to bring up the description of Ayodhya, Mithila & Lanka. You could actually imagine the way the cities were built and the organization of the people. The narration is pacy and keeps us interested throughout the book . According to me the book is epic and a good read.
