Different Identification Technologies

What is RFID?
RFID system is a Wireless Technology that uses
Electromagnetic Frequencies to identify something
(object, person etc.)

RFID Tag
RFID tags are a type of tracking
system that uses radio frequency
to search, identify, track &
communicate with objects or
items.
RFID Reader
A radio frequency identification
reader (RFID reader) is a device
used to gather information from
an RFID tag, which is used to
track individual objects. Radio
waves are used to transfer data
from the tag to a reader.

RFID Antenna & Types
RFID antennas convert the reader's
signal into Radio Frequency waves for
the Tags within the range. Antenna
generates an RF field, which in turn
transmits the signal to a nearby tag.

Utilization of RFID Technology

Types of RFID Tags

Types of RFID Tags

Operational Frequency of RFID Tags
LF Mostly used for short reading range application
HF Economic & useful for access control, item identification
UHFGood reading speed but less efficient on wet surface & near metal
MW
Faster response, efficient in vehicle tracking but performance
degrades on wet surface & near metal like UHF.
