RIZAL’S LOVE ROMANCES Presented by: William Jay M. Quiñones
Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, great propagandist, novelist, was also known to be very good in courting men, he met quite a lot of women in his years. Known to be a smooth talker, Rizal charmed these women with his intelligence, charisma and wit. Some label him a womanizer, in my opinion though, he had respect with all the women that he had relationships with and he never had a relationship with two women at the same time
According to some historians there were nine (9) women who were known to have a love affair with our national hero but there are other historians and sources claimed that Rizal have more than 9 women. Here are the list of Rizal’s love romances…..
Rizal’s first love a pretty 14-year-old Bataguena from Lipa Rizal met her during his visit to his maternal grandmother house Rizal became interested in her and got to know her more intimately during his weekly visit to La Concordia College, where his sister Olympia was a boarding student. Suzanne Jacoby A Belgian woman Rizal met Suzanne during his stay in Belgium, he stayed the boarding house of the 2 Jacoby sisters. Their relationship may be a fling as Rizal did not mention her to his friends Rizal left the country leaving Suzanne heartbroken, and later returned, not for Suzanne but to continue writing the El Filibusterismo
Nellie Boustead Rizal met Nellie during his stay in Paris Daughter of British businessman Eduardo Boustead and was half Filipina They were involved in a love triangle with Antonio Luna
