One starts suspecting the possible presence of breast cancer if one noted the following on BREAST SELF-EXAM: Usually A SOLID breast mass and NONTENDER If advanced, With skin changes and nipple retraction Fixed or non-movable BREAST CANCER – WHEN TO SUSPECT SOLID – most likely does not contain fluid If with fluid, CYSTIC. If CYSTIC, most likely BENIGN (NOT CANCER)

15. When to suspect presence of breast cancer AFTER A BREAST SELF-EXAM? One starts suspecting the possible presence of breast cancer if one noted the following on BREAST SELF-EXAM: Usually A SOLID breast mass and NONTENDER If advanced, With skin changes and nipple retraction Fixed or non-movable BREAST CANCER – WHEN TO SUSPECT NON-TENDER means NOT painful or NO pain upon pressing. NON-TENDER breast mass is more worrysome than one with tenderness.

16. In a BREAST SELF-EXAM, one has to differentiate between lumpy breast surface and dominant mass – the RED-FLAG mass. BREAST CANCER – WHEN TO SUSPECT
