Healthcare in India:------------ [1] India has a large number of doctors, clinics and hospitals, Public Healthcare System, all are run by the government. [2] It has the ability to look after the health of a large section of its population scattered over thousands of villages. [3] However, even after having public healthcare systems the government is not able to provide proper healthcare facilities to people. “ I got the vaccine, Trust me it's safe.”
Healthcare in India:------------ Public and Private Health Care Services The health care facilities are divided into 2 categories: [1] Public Health Services [2] Private Health Facilities Do gaz ki duri , mask hai zaruri
The public health service is a chain of health centers and hospitals run by the government [1] At the village level, there are health centers where there is a nurse and a village health worker. [2] Trained in dealing with common illnesses and work under the supervision of doctors at the Primary Health Centre (PHC). [3] At the district level, there is a District Hospital that supervises all the health centers. [4] Large cities have many government hospitals and also specialized government hospitals. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
The health service is called ‘public’ for many reasons as mentioned below: * The government has established hospitals and health centers for everyone. * The medical facilities are provided at a low cost so that the poor can also seek treatment .
* The function of Public health service is to take action to prevent the spread of diseases such as TB, malaria, jaundice, cholera, diarrhea, chikungunya, etc. * The government must safeguard the Right to Life of every person. According to our Constitution, it is the primary duty of the government to ensure the welfare of the people and provide health care facilities to all. The health service is called ‘public’ for many reasons as mentioned below:
* Private Health Facilities Cover your mouth and nose with mask Urban areas have private clinics. In the rural areas, one finds Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs). Urban areas have a large number of doctors, many of them providing specialized services. hospitals and nursing homes that are privately owned. laboratories that do tests and offer special facilities such as X-ray, ultrasound, etc. There are also shops from where we buy medicines. private health facilities are not owned or controlled by the government.
* Healthcare and equality: Is adequate healthcare available to all? Cover your mouth and nose with mask # Private services are increasing but public services are not. . # Private services are concentrated in urban areas. services is rather high. Medicines are expensive. # Encourage incorrect practices to earn more.. For example, prescribe COSTLY medicines, injections or saline when simple medication may W0RK. # In fact, barely 20 per cent of the population can afford all the medicines that they require during an illness.
Healthcare and equality: Is adequate healthcare available to all? # Many tribal areas have few health centers # 40 percent of people who are admitted to a hospital have to borrow money or sell to pay for the expenses #They are not provided basic necessities like drinking water, adequate housing, clean surroundings. # Women’s health concerns are considered to be less important than the health of men in the family.
What can be done? The health situation of most people in our country is not good. It is the responsibility of the government to provide quality healthcare services to all its citizens, especially the poor and the disadvantaged. However, health is as much dependent on basic amenities and social conditions of the people. Hence, it is important to work on both in order to improve the health situation of our people. Cover your coughs and sneezes
The Kerala experience In 1996, the Kerala government made some major changes in the state. 40% of the entire state budget was given to panchayats:-- They worked on, water, food, women’s empowerment and education, water, the working of schools and anganwadis. Health centers were also improved. however, some problems – such as medicines, hospital beds, enough doctors – needed to be addressed
The Costa Rican approach One of the healthiest countries in Central America. Costa Rica took a very important decision and decided not to have an army. This helped the Costa Rican government to spend the money that the army would have used, on health, education and other basic needs of the people.. The Costa Rican government provides basic services and amenities to all Costa Ricans. For example, it provides safe water, sanitation, nutrition and housing. Health education considered very important.
