Early life Born in Toronto Moved to Brampton at the age of 4 Was severely bullied in school owing to his ethnicity, race and colour He learnt boxing and that helped him cope with the bullying at school Became a hip-hop star and a DJ in Toronto At 19, he first tried his hand at standup comedy His father, whom he was very close to, died of cancer

TURNING POINT IN HIS LIFE He had the opportunity to meet American comedian George Carlin, someone he was greatly influenced by. Carlin, in his own words, advised Peters to “Take the stage wherever possible and make the most of it” Peters’ followed his advice, word by word His performance on the Canadian show “Comedy now” captured audiences worldwide He hosted Carlin’s show after he died in 2007, as a token of respect
