E.SAHITHI P.SHANMAYI MANASI CH.RAHUL DETECTION OF OIL SLICK THICKNESS ON THE SURFACE OF WATER BODIES

Introduction Marine pollution is one of the nations challenging task which has an immense effect on marine and human life. Marine environment is contaminated by many factors, such as toxic chemicals, solid waste, sediment inputs due to human activities and oil spills. An oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment, especially the marine ecosystem, due to human activity. Motivation The   2017 Ennore oil spill  occurred outside the  KamarajarPort  in  Ennore  near Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. The spill occurred on 28 January 2017. Oil destroys the insulating ability of fur-bearing mammals. When exposed to oil, adult fish may experience less rate of growth.

Solution To develop an low cost and compact instrument to measure the thickness of oil slick floating on water surface Using oil Level sensor, thickness of the oil slick can be found out The coordinates can be found out using GPS module and the data is transferred using Wi-Fi module and Mobile Telnet app REGULATED POWER SUPPLY LCD DISPLAY GPS MODULE ARDUINO UNO OIL LEVEL SENSOR BUZZER LDR WIFI MODULE
